EDITOR,

Restaurants that provide healthier food options are desperately needed in Tracy. Yes, I understand that it is up to an individual to chose healthier foods in the restaurants in Tracy, but what about reaching out to restaurants that gear toward healthy lifestyles; i.e. True, Country Gourmet, Sweet Tomatoes, etc.?

Come on people, get on board. Let’s get some healthy restaurants in Tracy. Let’s get our children on the right eating track.

Gosh people, the author's original post was titled "In search of Healthy Options". Keyword "options". I understand where the comments are coming from, but they sound so harsh! She shouldn't be chastised because she CARES. At least she cares. Wanting more options shouldn't open her up for comments telling her to cook more at home, etc. Reading all this makes everyone seem so critical. Such a "simple" subject too, comparatively speaking. Don't be so quick to judge people and please be nicer to others when you comment. Have a nice day all.

The author also instructs us to "come on people, get on board." Personally, I'd prefer the author learn proper use of punctuation rather than having people going about Tracy coming upon one another.

I agree that I'd love to see some healthier eating options in Tracy. Yes, cooking at home is ideal. However, there are times that I would just like to go out, and I'd love an option to go somewhere like Sweet Tomatoes. I have no idea how to go about encouraging a business to open in Tracy. What can we do?

Ok, Here's a novel idea, shop wisely and cook for the kiddies at home. Problem solved.

Amen. If the author is looking to restaurants for healthy food choices she is looking in the wrong place. Make it at home and it will not only be healthier but better for your pocketbook. Plus you will be able to have a some nice conversation with your family around the table, rather than having to listen to a bunch of distracting noise from other folks. Actually, I wonder why folks eat out at all.

Our family does cook and provide healthy meals in our home. I'd like once in a while to have a meal outside our home... this is where a restaurant that is geared toward healthy meals comes in. Does it not sound like a good idea to have a healthy food providing restaurant a good idea? I'd just like to the citizen's of Tracy be provided that option, maybe we'd see less overweight people. I care.

Here's another novel idea-there is an invention called a menu-under the listing of "Lite meals" there is usually something called a salad. Fruit may also be served so look for that too. Most restaurants carry this concoction......... and are served by most places (except fast-food joints).

You would be surprised to know that many of the salads on menus have more calories than a burger!

OK so yes we try to shop wisely and cook at home. But that is not always able to accomplish. If you have several kids with crazy schedules you know what I mean. It would be nice to have lace to eat that are generally healthier options. I don't see the problem with that request.

Shopping for healthier food is also more expensive. The govt uses OUR tax money to subsidize certain crops that are used as unhealthy additives in our foods and those at Fast Food places. These items in turn are less expensive and in these times that is very appealing. Why are we not up in arms about our govt flooding money into helping keep our country unhealthy and putting money into the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies???? Maybe the should put our hard earned dollars into subsidizing healthy foods and making them cheaper??????

I know I know in the end it comes down to us. It is our choice. We need to be responsible. I agree. But believe me it is way easier said than done and something needs to be changed with how our govt is duping us all and using our money to do it!
