Six Tracy teenage girls will be the centers of attention Saturday night, March 30, when they compete for the title of Tracy Distinguished Young Woman.

The annual pageant, formerly known as Tracy Junior Miss, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Kimball High School auditorium, 3200 Jaguar Run, off Lammers Road.

Candidates are Melissa Clark, Elizabeth Higa, Lindsey Raaker and Ashlie Rodgers, all of Tracy High, and Mackenzie Decker and Natalie Pearlman, both of Kimball High.

During the pageant, they will be judged on physical fitness, self-expression, talent and an interview, coupled with their scholarly achievements in high school.

The winner will represent Tracy in a statewide Distinguished Young Women program in Bakersfield in July. She and runners-up will receive college scholarships from the program sponsor, Kiwanis Club of Tracy, and other sponsors.

In addition to the six candidates, Emily Axford, last year’s pageant winner, and past participants Julianne Pham, Amanda Williams, Kaylee Haire, Chelsea Fowler and Jamie Lam will take part in Saturday’s program.

Dr. James Franco, superintendent of the Tracy Unified School District, will serve as master of ceremonies.

Tickets, $15 for adults and $8 for students, will be available at the door Saturday.

For information: Chairwomen Tammy Thompson, 629-2085, and Patty Knapp, 815-1883.
