The checkpoint will be conducted 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. near the intersection of 11th Street and Chrisman Road, according to CHP Spokesman Adam Shelton.
The reason behind the early hour for the checkpoint is due to the abundance of crashes related to drinking and driving that occur between the hours of 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on a holiday weekend, he said.
“The weather is getting nicer and people are going to come out and drink and drive,” Shelton said. “We do get a lot of arrests on St. Patrick’s Day and it’s on a weekend (this year).”
