Junior records eagle as West claims victory in TCAL start
West High junior Mark Olson eagled the par-4 ninth hole at Old River Golf Course in Tracy on Wednesday, March 13, leading West to a 215-227 win over Tokay in the Wolf Pack’s first league match of the season.
Olson said his drive on the 260-yard ninth landed in the middle of the green and left him with a 20-foot putt, which he sank to finish with a score of 39 on the par-36 course.
Also contributing to West’s score were junior Nick Carrera, 41; junior Garrett Morris, 44; Bryce Noegel, 45; and Austin Smith, 46.
West has a 3-6 overall record.
Sonora 220, Kimball 235
Kimball High golfers took their first loss in Valley Oak League play Tuesday, March 12, at Tracy Golf and Country Club.
Sophomore Reese Maxfield led the Kimball team (4-2, 2-1 VOL) with a score of 44 on the par-36 course.
The Jaguars also lost a nonleague match Monday, March 11, to Mountain View High at Los Altos Hills Golf and Country Club, 228-259. Maxfield led Kimball with 47 on the par-35 course.
Track and Field Kimball teams defeat East Union
The Kimball High boys and girls track and field teams both defeated the East Union Lancers in the second Valley Oak League dual meet of the season Wednesday, March 13, at Kimball High.
The boys (1-1 VOL) beat East Union 105-27 as the Jaguars won 14 of the 16 events and took the top three places in the 100-meter and 800-meter runs and the long jump.
The Kimball girls (2-0 VOL) edged past East Union 67-64, winning eight of the 16 events.
Softball
Millennium falls to Patterson
Freshman pitcher Amy Wise pitched six innings and struck out three Patterson batters in a 9-7 road loss for Millennium High on Tuesday, March 12.
Wise also doubled and had two RBIs for the Falcons (2-1).
Senior Breana Reyes singled and tripled while junior Gabrielle Ramirez had three base hits and batted in three runs against the Tigers (3-6).
Tennis
Kimball boys undefeated
The Kimball High boys tennis team continued its dominance in the Valley Oak League with a 5-4 win over Weston Ranch High on Tuesday, March 12, in Stockton.
Kimball (5-0 VOL) won five of the six singles matches in straight sets, while Weston Ranch won all of the doubles matches in straight sets.
The Jaguars beat Sierra High 9-0 on March 7, winning all matches in straight sets, including 6-0, 6-0 wins for Chun and for junior Mark Dalupan.
