Tracy High’s girls varsity basketball team started its San Joaquin Athletic Association league season with a 60-9 win over the visiting Franklin Yellowjackets on Tuesday.

Assistant coach Mike Granillo III said his team was able to hold Franklin to six points in the first half and run up a 42-6 score at the half, with a defense that forced the Yellowjackets to take tough shots. Tracy then out-rebounded Franklin to dominate both sides of the court.

Marlene MacMillan scored 22 for Tracy, and Megan Machado scored nine. Tonta’ne Gilbert and Jordan Averiett each had eight rebounds, and MacMillan had seven. Gilbert also made five steals, and Stefanie Eubanks had five assists.

It puts Tracy at 13-3 overall with the Bulldogs’ next game scheduled for Thursday at Lincoln High.
