OAKDALE — A 40-year-old Tracy man was killed Sunday night after the car he was driving struck a tanker truck from behind in rainy conditions on Highway 120 just north of here, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 8:45 p.m., Pablo Galvin was driving north on Highway 120 near the intersection of River Road and Rodden Avenue, according to officer Tom Killian of the California Highway Patrol.

A few seconds earlier, north of the intersection, a tanker truck carrying milk, driven by Rogelio Martinez, 53, of Turlock, had pulled out from the Oakdale Cheese Factory and onto the highway heading north when Galvin's car smashed into the backside of the tanker, running underneath the trailer, according to Killian.

Galvin was not wearing a seat belt. Martinez was uninjured.

Although the crash is still under investigation, alcohol is suspected of playing a role in the crash, Killian said.
