A local political action committee had spent another $11,145.80 by last Friday  on campaign mailings and other literature to endorse Tracy Mayor Brent Ives and slam Councilwoman Irene Sundberg.

Thursday last week was the deadline to report campaign donations received between Oct. 1 and 18. From now until Nov. 4, candidates and political action committees must report within 24 hours any donation received or expense paid that’s more than $1,000.

For a Better Tracy, the PAC formed by Tony Souza of Souza Realty and Development, reportedly raised $5,600 by last week’s filing deadline and spent $14,293.80 during the first half of October, which brings the group’s cost of campaign mailings up to nearly $25,000.

Mayoral candidate Celeste Garamendi received $5,000 from a public employee worker union before Friday last week, bringing her total reported contributions up to $44,463.

City Council candidate Mike Maciel was the only other candidate to have reported more than $1,000 in donations or expenses. On Thursday, he got $1,500 in donated TV advertising and "slate costs" from Tracy dairyman and San Joaquin County Supervisor Leroy Ornellas.

The retired police captain got $1,081 in donations between Oct. 1 and 18. He has raised a total of $16,297 so far.
