EDITOR,

I attended the recent police forum at North Elementary School to get an idea of how to better understand the workings of our police. I get frustrated with them, so I wanted to really try and keep an open mind.

We sat down and were introduced and then were told to hold our comments till the end of the slideshow. Of course, being human, people discussed their concerns out of turn. The woman who was in charge became very emphatic about us being quiet, but then some woman in the back started in on sports parks and how we would have less crime if we had them.

Well, let me tell you, when these city projects were brought up, the presenters were all smiles, but I was really frustrated, because it got so late that the rest of us didn’t get to ask our questions.

I came away with the perception that, yes, sports parks are important to deter crime, but the problem right now is the crime that is happening now!

Maybe I will get a chance to ask a question someday.

For now, I’ll just say this: To the man helping in front, please stop putting your foot and leg on the bench when you are facing the public. I did not appreciate the view.
