The Tracy Police Department's gang investigators arrested a
20-year-old man today in connection with the stabbing of another 20-year-old
early Sunday at West Valley Bowl, 2365 East St.
Raymond Clifford Avila was arrested on suspicion of assault
with a deadly weapon. He was booked into San Joaquin County
Jail in French Camp. Bail was set at $25,000, and a court date was set
for 8:15 a.m. Thursday.
Police went to the bowling alley at 1:20 a.m. Sunday when
someone reported a large fight that involved a dozen or more people.
Before officers arrived, friends of the stabbing victim,
Mario Parrales, took him to Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. He was stabbed
three times, lost a lot of blood, but is expected to recover, said Sgt. Terry
Miller.
Parrales is the same man arrested in December on suspicion
of beating a 15-year-old boy with a piece of metal in front of Tracy High.
Miller said that beating and Sunday’s stabbing were related.
Parrales and his friends showed up at the bowling alley and saw Avila and his
buddies. Both groups got mouthy with each other, and not long after, a melee
ensued in the parking lot and Parrales was stabbed, Miller said.
Avila was identified through witness statements and video
surveillance captured by the business' security system.
