The Tracy High wrestling team netted its third-straight San Joaquin Athletic Association banner Thursday night when the Bulldogs finished off the season 4-1 and the week 2-0 after Lincoln, which handed Tracy its only loss of the year, lost to Lodi, 39-30.

The Bulldogs’ 4-1 season and 2-0 final week included a win over previously unbeaten Chavez.

The Bulldogs took only four wrestlers to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section team duals tournament on Saturday in Sacramento, where Tracy lost in the first round to 2007 champion Elk Grove. And that’s OK, as it puts Tracy’s wrestlers in better shape to move on individually in the tournament that begins Feb. 9.

“We know what’s important to us,” Tracy coach Darryl Rond said.

West shared the TCAL regular-season title with McNair and Tokay, and the Wolf Pack and Tigers both declined to go to team duals, letting the Eagles take the honor. The banner will be determined Saturday at West High in the TCAL tournament.
