Police arrested a 43-year-old man Tuesday night after a car chase in downtown Tracy.

 



The man led police on a chase down Bessie Avenue and 10th Street before officers pulled him over and drew their guns at Ninth and D streets.

The man was on probation, the police log noted, and his car was towed after he was taken into custody.

The Tracy Police Department logged 177 calls on Tuesday, including the following reports: 12:29 a.m.: Someone reported seeing a group of kids trying to open car doors at the Chesapeake Bay Apartments, 2941 W. Lowell Ave. Two kids ran off when the caller saw them, but the caller gave a description of two cars associated with the kids, and police tracked down the cars on Corral Hollow Road. Police arrested one teenager on probation in Alameda County, who was released to the custody of relatives.

2:24 a.m.: Someone broke into a Chevy Cavalier and stole a purse on the 2500 block of Alzira Court.

3:25 a.m.: A woman reported she awoke to find her front door wide open and money gone from her purse at the Jewel Apartments, 333 W. Ninth St.

6:45 a.m.: Someone spray-painted graffiti that’s possibly gang-related on a wall facing Clyde Bland Park, 1753 Blandford Lane.

6:51 a.m.: A woman reported an injured owl in her backyard on the 2300 block of Del Mar Court, but it was gone by the time an officer arrived.

6:55 a.m.: Someone broke a car window with a rock and stole a woman’s purse on the 2500 block of Pebble Creek Court.

8:43 a.m.: Two fighting guests broke a window at the Tracy Inn, 24 W. 11th St., but agreed to pay for the damage after police arrived.

9:19 a.m.: A woman reported three or four kids near a tool shed in the backyard of vacant house, and police arrested a 19-year-old man and told two girls to leave the area.

12:16 p.m.: Someone ran into a man’s car at the West Valley Bowl, 2365 East St.

1:10 p.m.: Someone reported being the victim of identity theft when a person ran up charges on a credit card.

1:19 p.m.: Someone busted a car window and stole a stereo on the 4200 block of Dally Court.

1:32 p.m.: Someone threw a lemon and broke a bedroom window on the 700 block of Taft Avenue.

3:04 p.m.: A 43-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting at Save Mart Supermarkets, 2005 N. Tracy Blvd.

3:25 p.m.: A caller reported that a man was dragging a woman by her arm to a car at the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road, at one point choking her when she screamed.

4:56 p.m.: Someone broke the window of a 1996 Honda Civic on the 400 block of West 22nd Street.

4:59 p.m.: Someone broke a car window and stole a purse on the 1700 block of Treehaven Lane.

5:29 p.m.: A caller near Edgewood and Plum lanes reported three women in a white van sending children up to doors to ask for money for Christmas.

5:47 p.m.: A woman reported someone stole her son’s bike from inside her vehicle that was parked in a garage on the 100 block of Victoria Street. She thinks the garage door was left open over the weekend.

6:18 p.m.: Someone reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill at the 99 Cents Only store, 1320 W. 11th St.

7 p.m.: Two kids were arrested and released to the custody of their parents for shoplifting at Save Mart Supermarkets, 2005 N. Tracy Blvd.

7:19 p.m.: A woman reported that people she knows stole some items, including a credit card that was used from her home on the 1300 block of Parkside Drive. She said that one person admitted to the theft and that he wears an ankle bracelet and might be on juvenile probation.

7:20 p.m.: Someone stole beer from Save Mart Supermarkets, 2005 N. Tracy Blvd., and then hopped into a Chevy pickup and took off.

7:43 p.m.: Police arrested someone after responding to a report of arson at Corral Hollow and Krohn roads.

7:47 p.m.: A woman said someone broke into her car while it was parked at Denny’s restaurant, 3718 N. Tracy Blvd.

8:23 p.m.: Someone chased three kids who were trying to break into a storage shed at Tri-Valley Carpets, 2358 East St.

8:35 p.m.: A man reported that one of his employees stole company files that contained clients’ private information, such as Social Security numbers, from Premier Financial, 6 W. 11th St.

8:52 p.m.: A caller said people were throwing things from an overpass onto Interstate 205 near Pescadero Avenue and Paradise Road.

9:27 p.m.: A man reported two prowlers with a rifle or a shotgun in the backyard of his apartment at 1603 Lincoln Blvd. The gun may have been a toy.
