The city of has four openings for people who want to serve on

the Tracy Arts Commission.

The seven-member commission plans and coordinates

arts-related events and activities in the city, including the summertime Music

in the Park concerts in Lincoln Park and the Multi-Cultural Festival recently

held at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.

The commission is expected to

take a greater role in exhibits and classes at the Grand Theatre. The extent to

which the commission gets involved will depend on upcoming recommendations by a

Tracy City Council subcommittee, which was formed two weeks ago to study and

review city policies related to the center’s operation.

None of the seven commission members have resigned, but four

commissioners’ terms will expire at the end of the year. All four, including

Leona Willis, Barbara Howard, Mercedes Silveira and Jack Elliott, are eligible

to reapply, and the city regularly accepts applications to see if others are

interested in the job.

The commission meets at on the second Tuesday of every month

at Tracy City Hall, 333 Civic Center Plaza and members are paid $50 for every

meeting.

Deadline for applications is Tuesday, Nov. 27, and

applications are available at Tracy City Hall, or by calling 831-6000.
