BNI to host visitors’ day

Tracy Business Partners Chapter will host a visitors’ day at 11:45 a.m. today at Summerville at Heritage Place, 355 W. Grant Line Road. BNI is an international networking organization that specializes in business referrals.

Bank’s ribbon-cutting today

Community Banks of Northern California will cut its ribbon on its new "green" Grant Line branch building at 11 a.m. today. The 7,000-square-foot building has flooring, tile work, cabinetry and countertops made of recycled components, in addition to other "green" components.

Jefferson carnival

The Jefferson Elementary School District Carnival will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Jefferson Elementary School at Chrisman and Linne roads.

Women’s Center event

The Women’s Center of San Joaquin County will host "A Fall Evening Gathering" from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the home of Karen and Jim Munro, 17757 Kennison Road, in Lodi.

The event celebrates the 25 anniversary of the DAWN House, the center’s oldest and largest shelter for battered women.

Ready for an emergency

The head of the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services will discuss tips on how families can prepare for floods, earthquakes and other disasters at a presentation at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tracy Branch Library, 20 E. Eaton Ave.

Junior class info night

Tracy High School will have a junior class information night at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 in the cafeteria and in Room 62 at the school, 315 E. 11th St.

Pancake breakfast

The Tracy Fire Department will have its 34th annual pancake breakfast from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at the 1701 W. 11th St. fire station.

The breakfast kicks off National Fire Prevention Week, and firefighters will discuss tips about all sorts of things related to making you and your home fire safe.

Cost is $5 for adults and $4 for children.

Tootsie Roll fundraiser

The Tracy Knights of Columbus will have its annual Tootsie Roll fundraiser next month to generate money for mentally retarded children and adults.

Volunteers are needed to hand out candy and collect money and donations during two-hour shifts at local businesses between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Oct. 19 through 21, and again from Oct. 26 to 28.

The annual Tootsie Roll Dinner dinner will be Oct. 13 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 E. Eaton Ave. The cocktail hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a chicken dinner with pasta, French bread, vegetables, salad and dessert. The cost of the dinner is $5 and $10, and proceeds will be given to charities that care for special-needs children and adults.

Class reunion

The Tracy High Class of 1957 will have a class reunion at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Tracy Elks Lodge, 6400 E. 11th St.

Textbook viewing

The public is invited to examine the new Advanced Placement French textbook, "Imaginez, le français sans frontièrs," by Cheri Mitschke. The textbook is being considered for adoption by the Tracy Unified School District.

The text may be reviewed at the Instructional Media Center in the District Service Center, Building A, 1175 W. Lowell, from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Oct. 22.
