The Tracy High soccer team improved to 2-0-1 in preseason play with a 2-0 win over the Manteca High Buffaloes thanks to some fancy footwork Tuesday in Manteca.

Junior Cory Devlin, in his first game as a midfielder after opening the season at defender, notched his first varsity goal in the game’s 36th minute on a floating shot from midfield.

In the second half, Ryan Jakes flicked a cross with his head near the 6-yard box and onto the heels of Guillermo Garcia, who sent it into the net with a back-heel rollback.

Bobby Ebert notched seven saves in net for the shutout and kept the Bulldogs afloat during a flurry of Manteca shots in the first 10 minutes.

The Bulldogs will play at Sierra on Friday before hosting Atwater on Tuesday.

The Bullpups (1-1 preseason) saw a hat trick from Carlos Lara and goals from Orlando Michel, Eric Bui and Matt Petro lead to their first preseason victory.

Second-half goalie Angel Perez stopped a penalty kick to snuff out any Manteca momentum.
