Today’s Remember When "mystery photo," shows a local couple standing in front of a safe in 1979. Who are they and what was their connection to the J. Brichetto safe?
Last week’s Remember When "mystery photo," showed Dr. Cecil Sonner (left) superintendent of the Tracy Elementary School District, and a young Tom Hawkins, superintendent-principal of Jefferson School, going over student-attendance boundaries south of Tracy. The topic had been the subject of considerable debate between the two districts, and the two administrators agreed that students living in the Tracy district north of Valpico Road who were attending Jefferson School could continue attending Jefferson, but that future students would attend schools in the district where they lived. Sonner served as Tracy Elementary superintendent for six years — from 1956 to 1962. In 1958, Hawkins was in his first year of a 30-year career at Jefferson.
