The Tracy High freshman, junior varsity and varsity cheerleading teams attended the Universal Cheer Association’s cheerleading camp from July 31 to Aug. 3 at California State University, Monterey Bay, along with 360 other cheerleaders from 11 other California schools.
The freshman and varsity squads earned the UCA Superior trophies, which makes them eligible to cheer at the NCAA’s Capitol One Bowl in Orlando, Fla., next year.
In addition to this honor, 10 members of the Tracy squads were named to the All-Star team.
Freshmen Savannah Massa, Canada Ferroni and Lauryn Lawson; sophomores Samantha Warren, Kirsten Evans and Carly Boudreau; junior Jamie LeBow; and seniors Lindsee Evans, Bailey Perez and Shellie Gottberg are now eligible to participate in London’s 2008 New Year’s Day Parade.
JV and varsity took first in the Camp Champs Cheer division, and all three squads took second to Folsom in the Camp Champs Xtreme Routine Division. Perez, a four-year cheerleader, received an application to apply for the UCA staff, and she plans to try out in February 2008.
