A Fremont woman was killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Altamont Pass Road.

The California Highway Patrol reported that Ronda Anaya, 47, was the passenger on a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle. She died at the scene after the motorcycle crashed head-on into a 1993 Suzuki motorcycle about 2 miles west of Grant Line Road.

The driver of the Harley Davidson, Sammy Grooms, 53, of Fremont, was airlifted to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. Officer Steve Creel of the CHP Dublin office said Grooms’ left leg was shattered in the crash.

The driver of the Suzuki, Joe Silver Sr., 43, of Tracy, escaped with minor injuries.

Creel said witnesses reported that Silver was eastbound on the two-lane road at about 1:15 p.m. when he crossed over the double-yellow line to pass slower traffic. Grooms was driving his motorcycle west along the road. All riders were thrown to the roadway as the bikes collided. Creel said all three wore helmets.

The road was closed for three hours as investigators examined the crash scene. Creel said no charges have been filed and the crash is still under investigation. He added that several people saw the crash and the CHP hopes to talk to more witnesses.

Charge him!!! He killed someone! ALL motorcycle riders should wait in traffic too... this is what happens when impatient people do stupid things.... I am getting real tired of these riders thinking they can do whatever they want just becuase they are on a motorcycle.
