Today’s Remember When “mystery photo” shows an Olds musical-instruments advertisement in Down Beat Magazine in 1943 showing the brass section of the Tracy High School Band. Who are playing the trombones, trumpets and French horns in the photo?

Last week’s Remember When “mystery photo” showed a display of a trophy shared by James McDermott Post of American Legion in 1972. The trophy honored the Legion’s 11th District, which includes the Tracy post, for having the top Law and Order program in the state. Left to right: Chief of Police Jerry Hodges; Elroy Cox, Legion Third Area law and order program chairman; France Johnson, immediate past-commander of James McDermott Post; and Wayne Maier, commander of James McDermott Post. The local Legion post continues to hold an annual Law and Order Night to honor public-safety officers in the Tracy area. Lois Robinson was the first to identify all four people in the photo. Other callers with three out of four correct were Jeanie Garcia and Lynn Jackson.
