The city has created a new commission to deal with transportation issues and is seeking to fill nine seats.
Assistant City Clerk Carole Fleischmann said that city officials decided to create a new commission to encompass all transportation issues, including air and rail, after the airport commission was disbanded
The Transportation Advisory Commission will provide the city with a community perspective and input on issues involving public transportation planning, facilities and programs. The new commission was established by the City Council.
Applications are sought for nine seats in which members will serve four-year terms starting in May 2008. People with experience in areas of public transportation in air, rail and road, including bus and bicycle issues, are encouraged to apply.
Commissioners receive $50 per meeting. Meetings will be at 7 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the City Council Chambers.
