Summer swim events geared for teenagers have been planned for four dates throughout the summer at the Joe Wilson Community Pool.

The activities are designed to create a fun environment at the 900 W. Lowell Ave. pool where teens can spend time with friends and beat the summer heat.

The first event, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, is just one in a series at the pool. The fee is $5 to get in, and food and beverages will be sold.

Each swim event is specifically for teenagers in middle and high school, and because the pool is not regularly open from 6 to 9 p.m., it will not interfere with the pool’s regular schedule.

Each occasion offers a different theme, so teenagers can look forward to various activities to keep them busy. The “Survivor” theme this Friday might have an obstacle course, as well as a diving competition and other relay games. On July 6, the KWIN radio station will give out tickets to the Summer Splash 2007 music festival in Stockton. Also on July 6, pirate-themed games such as water balloon fights and races will take place.

The final two events will be July 20 and Aug. 3. On July 20, there will be an Olympic theme. The final night of swimming will be an End of Summer Splash from 7 to 10 p.m.
