The Tracy Futbol Club’s under-9 Crossfire, who competes in the U.S. Club Soccer program, traveled to Sacramento on June 3 for a NorCal Premier Play Date.

The team was ranked No. 1 in its age group heading into the weekend, and the boys from T-town proved their worth — with a little something extra. Before the first game, coaches issued a challenge to the high-scoring team: yield no goals the entire day of competition.

Things started off with a 6-0 win over San Jose Atlas. Jake Pranke had a hat trick, and single goals came courtesy of Chris Ramon, Todd Hoffman and Miguel Chao. Brian Kronenberg and Matthew Case provided assists, and goalie Alex Martinez needed only two saves for the shutout.

Next up was Sonoma County Alliance, whom the Crossfire defeated 8-0 behind goals from Hoffman, Gonzalo Perez-Diaz, Victor Tellez-Gomez, Kronenberg and Ramon. Cesar Gervacio provided assists, and only one save was needed by Kronenberg, who was in goal.

Finally, it was against Elk Grove United — whom Crossfire defeated 5-3 in May — that the Crossfire met their challenge with a 6-0 win. Martinez needed five saves for the shutout, and Anthony Cabri added his name to the score sheet. Victor De La O and Cameron Hoff also made fine plays.
