The Tracy Tritons sent 80 swimmers to the Oakdale Invitational on Saturday, and the swim team managed to take second place, setting two meet records in the process.

Swimming in the only metered pool in the league _ all others, including the Tritons’ home pool at Tracy High, are measured in yards _ Justin Phelps set a new 11-12 boys record in the backstroke, with a time of 35.58 seconds. The old mark, 36.09 seconds, was set in 1995.

And with James Thompson, Bradley McCain and Eric Taylor joining Justin, the 11-12 boys 200 freestyle relay broke a 15-year old record with a time of 2:14.32. Justin was the individual high-point winner in his age group.

Caitlin O’Neil and Josh Kemprud were the high point-earners for the Tritons in the 6-and-under group, while Shannon Daviscourt and Brandon Brown won the honor for 7-8s. Kyle Taylor and Anthony Cabi were tops for 9-10s, and the 11-12s honors went to Justin Phelps and Michaela Loomis. Jennifer Porter and Justin Nool were tops for 13-14s, Danielle Daviscourt and Christopher St. Clair were best for 15-16s, and Sarah St. Clair and Justin Pankratz earned the honors at 17-18.
