Rebecca Frame will pass the baton to Paul Hall this week after she served 28 years as director of student services and curriculum for Tracy Unified School District.
Hall got comfortable in Frame’s desk chair Tuesday afternoon for his second day on the job. Over the next few weeks, Hall and Frame will pore over the district’s disciplinary rules, attendance, student transfers and alternative schools, which he’ll oversee.
He will also manage the district’s prevention services, health services and student support programs like Achievement Via Individual Determination, Character Counts and service learning.
Hall was hired out of a pool of 11 interviewed applicants and starts with a $105,433 salary.
During his nine years in education, Hall taught middle school, worked as an assistant principal for Hanford High School, was director in a community day school and, most recently, was principal of Admiral Akers School, a kindergarten-through-eighth-grade school in Lemoore.
He won the Association of California School Administrators Golden Apple Award for Kings County in 1997, and was the administrator of the year for secondary schools in the same county.
Hall earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social science from Chapman University in Orange County. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy for 20 years before he retired in 1997 to teach.
He will move to Tracy this summer with his wife of 17 years, Angela, and his six children.
Hall said he hopes to see attendance go up, disciplinary problems go down and more students graduate high school.
“We all have these same goals,” he said. “Open communication with parents, teachers and school administration will achieve success.”
Frame said she will leave Hall with a bit of advice: “Continue to be thorough and thoughtful.”
