Sentencing has been delayed for a man who pleaded guilty three weeks ago on a 1996 child molestation case.
Kevin Paul Rose, 30, was originally scheduled to be sentenced May 5, but he will be sentenced June 11 at the Tracy courthouse. Deputy District Attorney Xapuri Villapurda said the court still must collect reports on Rose from the San Joaquin County’s probation department before he is sentenced.
Rose faces 25 years to life in prison based on two counts of child molestation. Police used DNA evidence to link Rose to two incidents in the fall of 1996 where a 4-year-old girl was reportedly molested, first in her home and a week later at a church near her home.
Police arrested Rose in Sacramento in December. He faced six child molestation counts, three counts of burglary and one count of kidnapping for sexual purposes. While he pleaded guilty to two counts of child molestation, his attorney, Vangie Eidsvik-Garza, said nothing in police reports shows Rose ever confessed to the crimes.
