San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a woman suspected of helping her boyfriend escape from San Joaquin County Jail on April 9.
Deputies went to Hammer Lane and Alexandria Place in Stockton at about 2 p.m. Thursday with the hope of finding Eric Hu, 32, who had been in jail after Stockton Police arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping and weapons violations.
Detectives found the maroon Dodge minivan that Hu is believed to have escaped in, and they also received information that led them to the 9600 block of Twin Creek Avenue. There they found Erica Munoz, 35, of Stockton, in one of the bedrooms, but they did not find Hu.
Munoz, who reportedly was the victim in the case that led to Hu’s arrest, was booked into county jail on suspicion of aiding an escape and conspiracy. She was reportedly driving the escape van that Hu ran into after switching clothes with an honor farm inmate.
Stockton police also searched the north end of town near Interstate 5 on Thursday, according to the Associated Press, backing up traffic for miles. Hu had not been found as of press time.
