DELTASchoolie striper are moving through the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers. They have been taken while trolling from the west bank of the Sacramento River from Sandy Beach near Rio Vista. The fish have also moved into the Old Sacramento area near Isleton, and Steamboat and Miner Sloughs. The majority of these fish are males, with the big females still to come. The schoolies are spread throughout the system up to Colusa. Shallow-running Bombers, Yo-zuris and Rebels are all working well. Schoolie size stripers have also moved into the San Joaquin River near downtown Stockton, the Stockton Turning Basin, the mouth of the Calaveras River and Smith Canal and have been taken with broken-backed Rebels or Bombers. They also have been taken on bait farther down the river near False River, the Barges and Eddo’s Marina.

LAKE CAMANCHE

With the wild weather fronts this past week and the sunny, bright conditions the rest of the week, the trout reports from anglers have been hit and miss. The fishermen that found some action had lots of it. One angler reported catching two limits of trout trolling near Hat Island with green grubs and a Power Egg. He was top lining and caught his fish early in the morning.

LAKE CHABOT

Rainbow trout and bass are reported caught at many locations around the lake. Lake Chabot is expecting a trophy plant later on this month. Trout are getting pulled out all over the lake. Locations such as Racoon Point, Coots Landing, the Burner and Bass Cove have been producing limits. Trolling for trout has also been great. Using a Rapala is a good way to pick up a quick limit of trout. For the angler fishing on shore, Power Bait is the best way to go.

SAN PABLO RESERVOIR

San Pablo has planted more than 20,000 pounds of trout since mid-February. Limits are brought in on a consistent basis, and trout weighing between 5 and 7 pounds have become common. Chicken livers work on catfish, and bass are responding to plastic worms.

LOS VAQUEROSEverything but trout has been quiet. Sonny Tumakay of Lathrop wrestled in a very nice 4.07-pound trout from the South Cove on rainbow Power Bait. Andrew Azavedo of San Ramon pulled in a couple of nice ones, at 5.9 and 5.12 pounds, from Peninsula Cove and Oak Point from a boat using nightcrawlers. Andra Raz of San Francisco hooked a 6.2-pound whopper from the South Cove on live crickets.
