DELTA

The water is getting warmer. An angler said the water on the San Joaquin River is now between 59 and 61 degrees and the stripers are moving out and up the rivers into cooler water, preparing to spawn. Using Wonder Roe near Benicia, Ozol Pier and Montezuma Slough, an angler caught two keeper sturgeon and an oversized 68-incher. The striper bite is good on the west bank of the Sacramento River with shallow running lures for bass up to 17 pounds. Sturgeon have been found from the Sherman Island power lines to Cache Slough.

LAKE CAMANCHE

Two anglers fishing with Power Bait in about 20 feet of water near the dam caught six trout, including a 7.5-pound lunker. Using orange grubs, two older fishermen caught their limits of trout trolling near Hat Island. Bass are now swimming in 10 to 15 feet of water and are active along the shoreline all over the lake, and a record crappie was landed Sunday.

LAKE CHABOT

Rainbow trout and largemouth bass are reported caught all over the lake. This week’s biggest fish was an 11-pound bass pulled out of the island using plastics. Racoon Point, Coots Landing, the burner and Bass Cove have been producing limits of trout throughout the week. Six whopper-size trout were pulled out this week alone. Bass are being caught by the island, Racoon Point and Coots Landing. The crappie bite is still slow.

SAN PABLO RESERVOIR

San Pablo Reservoir is pushing an aggressive plant schedule. About 2,400 pounds of rainbow trout were planted on March 14. The next scheduled plant is today, weighing in at 2,400 pounds. Both bait fishing and trolling are effective for trout. Hot spots for shore fishing include the bank off the main recreation area and down by the launch. Bass are becoming more active.

LOS VAQUEROS

On Saturday, the lake had a 5,000-pound trout plant. For anglers, the shore is still working great. Power Bait and nightcrawlers are the best bets.
