Daniel Flores, 24, is charged with robbery and attempted robbery. He appeared in an orange jail uniform from the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp, where he is being held.
Judge Ron Northup appointed Public Defender Berthier “Butch” Maciel to represent Flores.
Northup denied a request by Maciel to release Flores on his own recognizance, and ruled that the defendant’s bail will remain at $100,000.
Deputy District Attorney Lon Hanson told the court it was Flores’ first offense, but stressed that he should remain in the county jail because of the severity of the charge.
Northup continued the matter for further arraignment at 8:30 a.m. on March 5 in the Manteca courthouse.
Flores is accused of robbing the Chase Bank at 2620 South Tracy Blvd. on the morning of Nov. 21. He is also accused of trying to rob a Subway at 959 South Tracy Blvd. on Nov. 9, according to the Tracy police.
Flores remains in custody in San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
