EDITOR,

What is it going to take to convince letter-writer Scott Hurban (“Inconvenient truth” on Wednesday) that global warming is a fact, not some scheme trumped up by over-zealous scientists for monetary and political gain.

It is thinking like his and that of others like ex-Congressman Richard Pombo, R-Tracy, and President Bush that put us in the mess we are in.

Years ago, no one gave any thought to what they did with their garbage or waste oil, and now there are mercury in fish, polluted streams and rivers and a myriad of other ecological problems. If we continue along this same path in regards to global warming, the consequences will be devastating.

It may not be that evident now, but what about our grandchildren or their grandchildren

What kind of a world are we going to leave for our grandchildren or their grandchildren to live in We reap what we sow.

Earl Jess, Tracy
