The Tracy High girls soccer team lost its first game in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs to St. Mary’s, which took the 3-0 win at St. Mary’s in Stockton.

Tracy coach Joe Perry said the St. Mary’s team came out strong with three goals in the first 21 minutes. After that, the Tracy team played a matched game with the Rams and even outplayed them through a scoreless second half, Perry said.

He added that the Tracy team went into Friday’s match knowing that they were up against one of the section leaders, but once on the field, they saw that they were up to the challenge. He said the team settled into a solid defensive game that kept the Rams away from the Tracy goal and got the ball back on offense more often.

“After the first 20 minutes, they lost their nerves and played the soccer they can play,” Perry said. “They gave ’em a good go for the last 60 minutes, but they gave up too much too early.”

The Tracy team finishes its season with a record of 11-3-1 in the San Joaquin Athletic Association and 13-5-2 overall.
