Tracy Chevrolet-Buick-Geo-Olds has moved into its new facility on Naglee Road. It is the first dealership to move into the new Tracy Auto Plaza, said co-owner Stephen Kraut.

Kelly Ryan, anchor of the morning and noon newscasts on KCRA-TV, was mistress of ceremonies for the Tracy Hospital Foundation’s Festival of Trees in Arnaudo Plaza off Tracy Boulevard.

George Hernandez, newest member of the Tracy Planning Commission, says he favors orderly growth for Tracy. “I don’t want to see something like San Jose,” he said.

Jaime Cordova, a Tracy High School senior, has been named most valuable soccer player in the San Joaquin Athletic Association. He was league-leading scorer with 26 goals.

Hopes of a Sac-Joaquin Division title evaporated for the Tracy High Bulldogs at Napa Stadium, where Napa blanked Tracy, 7-0, in the opening round of the playoffs.

50 years ago — 1956

The last steam locomotive has pulled out of the Tracy yard and headed to Oakland. Only diesel-powered engines remain in service in Southern Pacific operations here.

Janice Marks reigned as homecoming queen at Tracy High. Her maids were Carolyn Miller and Mary Garcia.

Don Coykendall, a lineman converted to fullback, has been named winner of the Peter B. Kyne Trophy as the most valuable player on the Tracy High football team.

Gertrude Ottenstroer and Dan Watrous, both of Tracy, were married Nov. 8 at a Catholic Church in Nevada.

75 years ago — 1931

Cecil Hedrick, a center on the Tracy High football team, has been named winner of the Peter B. Kyne Trophy as the most valuable player on the team.

The Tracy Community Council has started distributing funds to families of the unemployed. Tracy service clubs are donating money to the council.
