Family in need

A family of four lost everything in a fire Thursday and needs clothing, blankets and other necessities. The two boys, 12 and 13 years old, wear size medium shirts and size 16 pants. The American Red Cross plans to help with food.

Winter ball

The Lolly Hansen Senior Center, 375 E. Ninth St., will have a winter ball with swing and ballroom dancing from 6 to 9 tonight.

The group, “In the Mood,” will provide the music.

Diabetes prevention

Astoria Gardens will have a discussion on how to prevent diabetes and how to care for people who have it. Nutritionist Pam Warmerdam will lead the talk.

Relay For Life rally

The American Cancer Society’s fundraiser, Relay For Life, will have its seventh annual Kick-Off Rally at 6 p.m. Thursday at the West High School cafeteria, 1775 W. Lowell Ave.

Relay teams can sign up for the May event, and there will be food and prizes.

Hospital gift sale

The Sutter Tracy Community Hospital Volunteers will sponsor a Holiday Boutique from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday in the community rooms at the hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd.

They will be offering baked goods, beautiful Christmas wreaths and centerpieces, and See’s Candies. Proceeds will go to the Hospital Volunteer Scholarship Fund.

Flu shots

The San Joaquin County Public Health Department will have a flu clinic for those insured by Medicare Plan B from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Lolly Hansen Senior Center, 375 E. Ninth St.

Cost is $15.

The clinic is for those ages 50 and older; those younger than 50 with qualifying medical conditions; those who provide care to anyone who meets high-risk criteria; the immuno-compromised; pregnant women; children ages 6 months to 5 years old; and those who live with infants younger than 6 months of age.

Kringle festival

The First Presbyterian Church of Tracy, 101 Berverdor Ave., will have its annual Kringlefest Celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Students from the Tracy area will sing and play holiday music in its Kringle Kids concert.

Christmas tree festival

The San Joaquin County Historical Museum will have a Christmas festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Micke Grove Park in Lodi. There will be more than 60 decorated trees, a Santa’s Village where kids can have their pictures taken with Santa Claus, a children’s craft center, Christmas exhibits, artisan wares and a tea room with food and dessert.

Cost is $8 for adults, $1 for children ages 2 to 7.

Bell ringers wanted

Tracy Salvation Army Service Extension seeks volunteers to man the red kettles and ring bells at several grocery and big-box retail stores.

Volunteers work two-hour shifts to support the needs of the underprivileged in Tracy.
