According to Tracy Crime Stoppers Chairman Marshall Rose, the reward was confirmed Thursday, Feb. 21.
He said the money would be put into the Crime Stoppers bank account and earmarked specifically for the Escamilla case.
Tracy police traffic Sgt. Kami Ysit said the reward could help their investigation.
“That’s a good amount of money,” said. “Maybe somebody will come forward now that there’s some money out there to be given to give us some investigative leads.”
Police said Escamilla was riding a bicycle on the railroad tracks across Schulte Road around 8:45 p.m. when he fell off the bike and was hit by a car traveling in the westbound lane, according to Tracy police.
He was pronounced dead a short time later at a local hospital.
