The Republican and Democratic parties agree on one thing: The congressional battle between Rep. Richard Pombo, R-Tracy, and Democrat Jerry McNerney is one of the hottest and most important in the state.
War, corruption, taxes and the environment are some of the subjects the pair will debate on stage tonight at the Tracy Press Candidates Forum, the only event of its kind before the Nov. 7 election.
Candidates for the 17th Assembly District seat, Cathleen Galgiani and Gerry Machado, will appear at the forum after the congressional debate.
