EDITOR,

In the article in the Sept. 13 newspaper regarding the yard signs we have in our homes to support the Schulte Road youth multi-sports complex, the photographer never received my permission to photograph the yard sign in front of my house. Our family has proudly displayed the yard sign to support the hard work of Let Children Play Now! and its goal of getting this sports complex built now.

We have volunteered to deliver these yard signs to more than 1,800 homes in Tracy. The reporter of the article made it as if we were lying about the number of yard signs we delivered. He demanded to see our master list of supporters, but we refused him to protect the privacy of our supporters. He then misled the public. I don’t think he even drove around to see all the yard signs the volunteers and youngsters worked so hard to distribute.

The truth is that thousands of family members, coaches, leagues, kids, parents and sports enthusiasts support the hard work of Let Children Play Now! by raising their voices to the forefront so this complex is financed and built. They are working hard to keep our voices close to the fire.

Perhaps the Tracy Press should hire more experienced reporters and definitely not assign such an important issue to someone’s who has lived here for only four months.

Tony Villalobos, Tracy
