Festival time again

This is Tracy Dry Bean Festival week, which means that the downtown, from 11th to Sixth streets between A Street and Central Avenue, will be closed to traffic beginning at noon Friday. The bean festival will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Admission will be $5 for adults; it’s free for seniors and children 12 and younger.

Larch-Clover’s ribbon cutting

The Larch-Clover Community Center, 1157 W. Larch Road, will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday to commemorate the end of its expansion project.

Adult book club

Adults are invited to join a book club at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 21 at the Tracy Library, 20 E. Eaton Ave. Participants can give input on what they’d like to read. Pre-registration is preferred.

Computer classes

Three basic computer classes will be offered for adults at the Tracy Library. Pre-registration is required because of space.

• Introduction to Microsoft Word: 10 a.m. Sept. 15

• Introduction to searching the Internet: 10 a.m. Oct. 20

• Introduction to sending and receiving e-mail: 10 a.m. Nov. 17.

Cheer for tacos

The West High School Cheer Squad will have a fundraiser from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Baja Fresh, 1855 W. 11th St. Proceeds from all sales will go to the squad.

Fun for recreational vehicles

Big Valley Sam’s RV Club will meet for its monthly outing this weekend at the 49er RV Ranch in Columbia. Plenty of activities are planned from Friday through Sunday in the historic Gold Country, and new members are welcome.

Tracy Adult School classes

There’s still time to enroll in Adult School Enrichment Courses at 1902 N. Corral Hollow Road. Classes include Adobe Photoshop, beginning welding, computer keyboarding, CSI: crime scene investigation and home arts.

Volunteers out there

Sutter Tracy Community Hospital is looking for men and women who want to volunteer at the hospital. Jobs range from escorting patients to working at the information desk and staffing the gift shop.

Money-making Clutch Burners

The Clutch Burners raised $4,500 for Sutter VNA Hospice at its recent 16th annual Picnic in the Park car show. The show displayed 368 cars and drew hundreds of onlookers.

The Clutch Burners started in the 1950s and now claims 21 members. The club has donated more than $25,000 to hospice over the past decade.

Looking for singers

The Stockton Chorale invites singers to audition by appointment Sept. 18 in the sanctuary of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 316 N. El Dorado St., in Stockton. The Chorale is a community chorus of 120 singers that is led by Edward Cetto, choral director at the University of the Pacific.
