East Union 258, Tracy 304

The Tracy High girls golf team fell to 1-1 on the year after a loss to East Union on Monday in nonleague preseason action at Manteca Golf Course.

Allison Jackson, Ashley Mack and Sierra Woolsey led the Bulldogs with scores of 51, 55 and 58 respectively. But the Lancers featured a golfer who broke the 50 mark, and all five others were under 60, more than enough to beat the Bulldogs by almost 50 strokes.

“Ashley played more like she can today,” Tracy coach Derek Solano said. “And Sierra — this is her second time golfing (in a match) ever, so she’s happy (shooting) in the 50s.”

All but one of the Bulldogs had never golfed at Manteca Golf Course before, creating a slight disadvantage. However, the newfound experience will serve Tracy well upon their return to the course in October for an 18-hole invitational.

On Thursday, Tracy plays host to Stagg at Tracy Golf
