Book signing

There will be a book signing at 1 p.m. today with Robert Farrell and his new book “Alien Log,” at Barnes

&

Noble Booksellers in the West Valley Mall.

Farrell will sign copies of his book, answer questions and talk with fans about the novel.

Bone marrow fundraiser

Baskin-Robbins, 965 S. Tracy Blvd., will host a fundraiser for Manteca resident Tommy Darrido, 2, who suffers from a rare bone marrow disorder. The event will raise money for his bone marrow transplant. The fundraiser will be from 4 to 10 p.m. today.

Car show

Golden State Corvettes will have a car show at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in Lincoln Park at Eaton Avenue and Holly Drive.

Registration runs until 11 a.m. Judging will begin at 11:30, after the Corvettes are cleaned.

Entry fee is $30 for members of the Western States Corvette Council, and $35 for nonmembers.

Some of the proceeds of the show will benefit Tracy Interfaith Ministries. Organizers plan a raffle, and there will be plenty of food. Awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m. for all paid entrants. Mayor Dan Bilbrey will be on hand to present the mayor’s choice award.

St. Bernard singers

St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., will host Bay Area choral singers to raise money for its new church.

The Saringhimig Singers will perform at 8:30 tonight.

Volunteers wanted

Tracy is looking for a few good volunteers to help at the Lolly Hansen Senior Center, 375 E. Ninth St.

The center serves about 400 people a week with a variety of programs and activities. At the moment, the center needs a receptionist who can answer phones and has clerical skills, and someone who can teach basic computer skills to seniors.

Boat safety classes

The San Joaquin Delta Power Squadron will offer a boating course for people age 12 and older.

The course is one of two the squadron conducts annually.

Topics include rules of the water, docking and anchoring, regulations and safety, aids to navigation, weather and engine troubleshooting.

The squadron is a nonprofit that promotes boat safety. The class is at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at Tully C. Knoles School, 6511 Clarksburg Place, in Stockton.

Cost is $50.

Senior bus trip to S.F.

The Golden Agers and the Lolly Hansen Senior Center, 375 E. Ninth St., will sponsor a bus trip for those age 50 and older to fisherman’s wharf in San Francisco for a day of sightseeing and fun.

The bus leaves at 9 a.m. Sept. 14 from the center and returns at 4 p.m.

Participants are reminded to bring warm clothing in case it’s chilly, as San Francisco often is.

Cost is $30.

The deadline to register is Sept. 12.

Tickets are available for the Tracy High Athletic Booster’s sixth annual luau Aug. 26 at the Finney home.
