Police arrested a 20-year-old man for arson after someone in a city vehicle spotted someone at 11:44 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, allegedly setting fire to the toilet at Zanussi Park, 1500 Promenade Circle. The caller helped police track the suspect, who reportedly ran from the park toward Corral Hollow Road. The suspect was booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp, where he was being held on $100,000 bail in anticipation of a Thursday, Feb. 21, appearance in the Manteca branch of San Joaquin Superior Court.

Tracy police received 137 calls for service Tuesday, Feb. 19. The following is a sample of those reports.

2:53 a.m.: Two men were seen fleeing Panda Express, 2441 Naglee Road, by the restaurant’s manager, who was watching on a security camera video feed. The manager told police the restaurant’s safe was open and that at least one of the men had a backpack.

8:54 p.m.: A 23-year-old man was arrested on a San Joaquin County warrant following a traffic stop at Beverly Place and Holly Drive.

11:37 p.m.: A Ford Escort and an unknown model of Toyota were in an accident at Crossroads Drive and 11th Street. According to the caller, who was in the Escort, one of the parties was leaving the scene to go to the hospital, and the Toyota drove away. A tow truck was called for the Escort, and a report was expected to follow.

The new traffic circle is poorly marked and a blight waiting to happen.

Vehicles routinely enter from the right without regard to traffic barrelling down 11th street. Vehicles in the outside lane routinely skip to the inside lane because the lines are not well established.

Any intersection that requires a diagram to navigate is dumb. the only reason it slows down traffic is that navigating the loop is terrifying. Standard right of way rules do not apply in a traffic circle. It's 'left of way'.

Golf rules for beginners:

1) Back straight, knees bent, feet shoulder width apart.

2) Form a loose grip.

3) Keep your head down.

4) Avoid a quick back swing.

5) Stay out of the water.

6) Try not to hit anyone.

7) If you are taking too long, please let others go ahead of you.

8) Don't stand directly in front of others.

9) Quiet please ... while others are preparing to go.

10) Don't take extra strokes.

Now, that's very good. Flush the urinal, go outside, and tee off.
