For the past two months, Tracy has seen Girl Scout troops selling their famous cookies outside stores, banks and coffee shops. They’ve also collected cookie donations from generous Tracy residents.

Girls from Tracy’s

50 troops set up shop in front of several stores during the past three weeks to sell cookies and invite customers to donate boxes of cookies to military troops.

The Girl Scouts delivered 1,038 boxes of cookies to the home of Military Moms of Tracy founder Marilyn Chorley, who will ship the cookies to men and women from Tracy serving in the U.S. armed forces.

"It means a great deal (to those serving)," Chorley said.

Last year, one soldier wrote back, "Wow! Girl Scout cookies — how American is that?"

The cookies go to members in all military branches, and nearly 300 Tracy men and women serve in the military.
