The thought of it might make you cringe — cheap chocolates, tacky cards and saccharine romance, whatever that is. For many, Valentine’s Day means another night with the ice cream carton, wiling away the lonely hours.

But you might also think this annual celebration of love and friendship has gotten a bad rap. To you, maybe it’s not all about commercialism, grade-school crushes or a reminder of that recent break-up. Maybe you have an experience that you feel captures the essence of what Valentine’s Day is all about. Perhaps that’s when you met the love of your life. Or when you declared your love to your one and only.

We’d like to hear about it. Send your stories to Our Town. If there’s a photo to go along with it, feel free to send that, too.

Our Town is your section, so if you have something to share, just let us know.

Pen an opinion of your latest read for Book Nook. Cast your nominating vote for a future In the Spotlight.

Share your good news with the community, whether it’s an achievement worthy of Accolades or a shout-out for Hometown Heroes.

Announce the major milestones in your family’s life in Engagements, Weddings, Anniversaries, Retirements and Centenarians. And don’t forget to tell us when your service organization elects new officers or takes on a major project — that’s why we created Club Notes.

In Our Town, we celebrate our readers. We invite you to do the same.

Send your stories to Our Town Editor Jennifer Wadsworth. To reach her, send an e-mail to jwadsworth@tracypress.com or give her a call at 830-4225.
