Care’n Chato, who grew up performing on stages in Tracy, will put on her junior-year recital Tuesday at University of the Pacific in Stockton.
After attending Tracy High School, Chato studied two years at the University of Hawaii and transferred to UOP in fall 2006 as a vocal performance major in the Conservatory of Music.
Tuesday’s recital starts at 7:30 p.m. at the UOP Recital Hall, 3601 Pacific Ave. Her program spans multiple musical periods and includes selections from composers Rossini, Bach, Chausson and Chanler.
A reception will follow.
Tracy High grad earns degree in history
Robin Gustafson, who graduated from Tracy High School in 2003, will accept her Bachelor of Arts degree in history on Dec. 22 from California State University, Sacramento.
Armed with a college degree, Gustafson plans to apply to law school. Her parents are John and Cindy Gustafson of Tracy.
American Angus member Tracy resident Stephen Miller is now a junior member of the Missouri-based American Angus Association. As a junior member, Miller can register cattle in the association and take part in livestock shows and other events sponsored by the organization, which with 36,000 active members is the largest beef registry association in the world.
Military appreciation event
For the third year in Tracy, Golden Corral Military Appreciation Monday last month paid tribute to local military personnel.
The restaurant honored more than 300 people who have served in the military — both past and present — with free meals Nov. 12 at the Golden Corral Buffet and Grill on Grant Line Road. About $600 in donations from the day will go to the Disabled American Veterans.
Nationwide, there were more than 320,000 meals provided at the military appreciation event at Golden Corral restaurants, and more than $640,000 in donations for state and local chapters of the Disabled American Veterans organization.
Delta Idol winners Local singers Madeline Freseman and Lauren Kuks came in first in their categories at the holiday singing contest Delta Idol at West Valley Mall Dec. 1. The competition was part of the mall’s Festival of Giving, an annual charity event.
