“If it speaks to you — it’s art,” said Jon Highland, owner of 12 Monkeys Tattoos since 1998.

Through unique art shows, he and his employees strive to showcase art on various canvases — everything from tattoos on skin to art shows that feature paintings on skate board decks.

The tattoo shop has hosted two art shows in the past year, and today it will feature art works on cabinet doors. Highland has invited 30 tattoo artists from all over the country to showcase their work at the shop, 917 Central Ave.

He plans to host art shows every few months in an effort to try to plug unconventional art into Tracy’s art scene.

Refreshments will be served, and each work will be for sale.
