If ever there was a reminder that the holidays are upon us in Tracy, it’s the Festival of Trees extravaganza, sponsored by the Tracy Hospital Foundation.

This is the weekend of elegant dinner parties, gift boutique, Silver Bell Tea Social, Teddy Bear Tea Parties, silent and live auctions, children’s activities and dancing in the trees — all at the Portuguese Hall/Tracy Ballroom, 430 W. Ninth St.

The festival will benefit CPR for Kids, Project Fit America and Coordinated Approach to Child Health, or C.A.T.C.H., all community-based programs that promote healthy, active children.

The public is invited to shop in the boutique, eat at the holiday snack bar and admire the decorated trees today and Sunday. Children can make crafts, shop in the Secret Santa Shop and meet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Festival-goers can also put their names in a drawing for one of three decorated trees.

Teddy Bear Tea Parties welcome kids to enjoy tea and holiday treats with their favorite fluffy companion by their side. The Jingle Bell Jam, a party for grownups tonight, draws 300 people to dance, dine and bid on gifts and trees, including the themed tree, Merry Catsmus and Happy Holidogs, which includes a dachshund puppy.
