A mock election for students in Tracy has given Bill Clinton a second term as president. Many students reported that Republican challenger Bob Dole’s performance in the second presidential debate sealed his fate.

With quarterback David Brown hitting receiver Mike Fuller with high accuracy, the Tracy High Bulldogs dumped East Union of Manteca, 25-3, at Peter B. Kyne Field.

Members of Inner Wheel celebrated the Tracy unit’s 11th anniversary with a gala birthday party and fashion show. The event was at the West Beverly Place home of club president Margaret McCauley.

Monty Montgomery, Dr. Patricia Bacchetti and Sheila August were elected to the Tracy High board of directors. Marvin Rothschild and Jollyne Toste will join re-elected Jim Brown on the elementary board.

The Tracy High Bulldogs blasted Franklin of Stockton, 34-2, to move closer to the San Joaquin Athletic Association title and a spot in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.

John Telleria and John Iriart were among the servers at the Tracy Elks Lodge’s annual Basque Night dinner.

50 years ago — 1956

G.I. Jones and Zenta Boulware won top prizes for their costumes at the annual Halloween Party sponsored by the Tracy Optimist Club.

Services have been conducted for George Lattin, a building contractor who built a number of homes and businesses in Tracy.

The Tracy Bulldogs were edged by Sonora, 13-7, for their first Valley Oak League loss. Fullback Don Coykendall scored Tracy’s lone TD on an 85-yard run on a rain-soaked field.
