Freedom from smoking



A seven-week class for those interested in breaking the nicotine habit is available at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. Registration fee is $10, refundable upon completion of class.

Learning about diabetes



Sutter Tracy Community Hospital will host a series of diabetes education classes from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays Oct. 5 through 26. Classes will address different topics each week with instructors from the nursing, dietary, rehabilitation and pharmacy departments. Participants are not required to attend all classes in the series.

Baby sitting the medical way



Safe Sitter is a medically accurate program that teaches 11- to 12-year-olds how to handle emergencies when caring for children. Participants will learn safe and nurturing childcare techniques, behavior management skills and appropriate responses to medical emergencies. Cost is $25

Variety of support groups



The Stroke Support Group meets from 3 to 5 p.m. the third Thursday of every other month. For information: 830-2137.



Tracy Area Cancer support group meets 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. For information: 833-2338.



Bereavement and grief support groups meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday mornings and 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings.
