Doug Unruh, president of Grupe Communities of Stockton, has told members of the Tracy Planning Commission that the Tracy Hills urban village project has been carefully planned. The proposal calls for Grupe to build as many as 5,499 homes on more than 3,000 of hillside land south of Tracy at the mouth of Corral Hollow Canyon.
Tracy schools are trying to deal with a major surge in enrollment. A 4.7 percent increase in student population is expected for the new school year.

Two “madams” were charged with vagrancy and fined $50 after police raided what they described as houses of ill fame. Ten other women were given $25 fines.
