Extra patrols were requested for the West High-Edison High basketball game Friday, Jan. 18, at West High School, 1775 W. Lowell Ave. The caller said there were “issues” when the Edison and West girls basketball teams played the night before in Stockton, and didn’t want anything similar happening in Tracy. A school resource officer and patrol officer were assigned to the game between 5 and 9 p.m. No incidents from the game were recorded in the log.

Tracy police received 362 calls for service Friday, Jan. 18, to Sunday, Jan. 20. The following is a sample of those calls.

8:27 p.m.: A man said someone in a puffy green jacket grabbed $250 out of his hand near the Chevron at 3775 N. Tracy Blvd. and walked away from the area. Neither the caller nor police found the man.

11:43 p.m.: A man riding a bicycle reportedly tried to punch another person in the head near Tracy Boulevard and Whispering Wind Drives after he was refused cigarettes. Police arrested a 29-year-old man matching the description of the suspect for attempted robbery. The charges indicate the victim might have been a bus or taxicab driver.

3:45 a.m.: Police arrested someone who refused to leave the emergency room at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd.

8:12 p.m.: Security detained a 30-year-old man at the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road, when he became combative after refusing to leave. Police were called to assist.
