The Bulldogs (10-7 overall, 1-0 SJAA) shut out the Yellow Jackets in the first quarter and were ahead 19-0 five minutes into the second quarter when Franklin finally hit its first field goal.
The Yellow Jackets (3-11, 0-1) finally got their offense to work in the fourth quarter, but by then it was far too late for a comeback.
Leading the way for Tracy’s offense was senior forward Angela Mariani with 12 points. Senior center Shelby Perry had seven points, and senior guards Karsi Fyfe and Emily Anchartechahar had six each.
McNair 83, West 15
The Wolf Pack girls took a big loss in their Tri-City Athletic League season opener against undefeated McNair High in Stockton on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
It was a lopsided contest from the start, as West (9-9 overall, 0-1 TCAL) trailed 24-6 at the end of the first quarter.
McNair (15-0, 1-0) continued to hit its shots, including 11 3-pointers, putting the game well out of reach.
McNair had six players score in double-digits, while West’s leading scorer, senior Ileyah Costa, scored four points for the night. Kate Bell had seven rebounds for the Wolf Pack.
Delta Charter 32, Hughes Academy 30
A battle between short-handed basketball teams ended in a two-on-two game that resulted in the Dragons’ favor Monday, Jan. 7, at Delta Charter High School.
Delta Charter (2-6 overall, 2-0 Mountain Valley League) started with six players, but lost one to an injury in the second quarter and three more to foul-outs in the second half.
The Hughes Academy Titans (0-7, 0-3) also got into foul trouble, and with two minutes, 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter it was a two-on-two game.
With the score tied at 30-30, Delta Charter sophomores Emma Richardson and Victoria Homen were left to finish the game for their team.
Richardson sank the winning shot and scored 21 points in all for the Dragons. Also scoring for the Dragons was sophomore Vanessa Sanchez with eight points and sophomore Mia Gomez with three points.
Kimball 61, Oakdale 35
The Jaguars came out on fire Friday, Jan. 4, at Oakdale, outscoring the Mustangs 22-4 in the first quarter.
Kimball (11-4 overall, 2-0 Valley Oak League) kept a wide lead over Oakdale (1-10, 0-2) for the rest of the game. Junior Noni Kuumba scored 15 for Kimball, and sophomore Alexis Clark added 14 points.
