Kimball coach Joe Lawrence said the Jaguars (8-6, 0-1 VOL) came out slow and were unable to stop the Lancers’ top scorers.
Lawrence said that East Union (12-0, 1-0 VOL) will likely be one of the teams to beat this year, as will defending league champion Sierra and last year’s VOL runner-up, Weston Ranch.
“We’re right behind them,” Lawrence said. “We just didn’t play very well tonight.”
East Union had a 29-21 lead at the half and ran away with the game in the third quarter.
The top scorer for the Jaguars was senior forward Derek Van de Streek with eight points. Senior guards DeVante Baisa and Chandler Alves scored six points each.
